    Environments

    What you can do

    Before your first request

    1. 1

      Complete onboarding and KYC

Your business must be onboarded and verified on Orbita. Conversions and payouts are rejected for unverified businesses.

    2. 2

      Generate an API key

Your business's Primary Admin generates it from the Orbita dashboard (Settings → API Keys). It is shown once — store it securely. See Authentication.

    3. 3

      Upload a signing key

Create an RSA key pair, upload the public key from Settings → API Keys → Signing key, and wait for Bluebulb to approve it. See Request signing.

    4. 4

      Get your IP addresses allowlisted

Send the public IP addresses of the servers that will call the API to your Bluebulb contact. Requests from any other address are rejected. See IP allowlist.

    5. 5

      Make your first request

Fetch the current rates with List rates, as below.

    Your first request
    read TS SIG < <(orbita_sign GET '/api/rates' "")

    curl "$ORBITA_BASE_URL/api/rates" \
      -H "x-api-key: $ORBITA_API_KEY" \
      -H "X-Signature: $SIG" \
      -H "X-Signature-Timestamp: $TS"

    Conventions

Currency codes are lowercase in requests and responses:

    ngnusdgbpeurcnyaedcadrndrmbkes

Which pairs you can actually convert or pay out depends on the rates Orbita currently offers — see List rates.

Amounts are decimal numbers in major units: ₦250,000.50 is 250000.50, not kobo.

Dates are ISO 8601 strings in West Africa Time, e.g. 2026-09-22T14:33:10.512+01:00.

IDs for conversions and payouts are UUIDs. Payouts can also be looked up by your own customerReference.
